Joe Hendry Qualifies for TNA World Title Fight at Slammiversary
Former Digital Media Champion Faces Deaner in Digital Exclusive
Montreal, Quebec, Canada (July 19, 2024)
Scottish wrestler Joe Hendry has qualified for the TNA World Title fight at Slammiversary after defeating Deaner in a digital exclusive match. Hendry, who returned to IMPACT Wrestling in 2022 and won the Digital Media Championship, borrowed from advice shared by Cody Rhodes to surge in popularity.
Hendry, signed to Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), was a musician for a decade before transitioning to professional wrestling. TNA will rumble into Montreal, Quebec, Canada for Slammiversary on Saturday, July 20, 2024.
Hendry's qualification match came on the heels of a No Surrender event in New Orleans. In the digital exclusive, Hendry faced Deaner in a hard-fought match. The victory secured Hendry's spot in the Slammiversary world title fight.
However, the qualification match was overshadowed by controversy. Mike Santana, who had been involved in a rivalry with Hendry, was allegedly screwed over by TNA officials. This has raised questions about the fairness of the Slammiversary title fight.
