The 153rd Open Championship is Heading to Royal Portrush in 2025
A Return to the Home of Golf's Original Championship
The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews (R&A) has announced that the 153rd Open Championship will be held at Royal Portrush in 2025. This will be the second time that the Open has been played at Royal Portrush, which previously hosted the championship in 1951.
A Historic Venue for Golf
Royal Portrush is one of the most historic golf courses in the world. It was founded in 1888 and has hosted numerous major championships, including the British Open in 1951 and the Irish Open in 2012. The course is known for its challenging links layout, which features undulating fairways, pot bunkers, and fast greens.
A Triumphant Return
The Open's return to Royal Portrush in 2025 is sure to be a special event. The championship will be played on the same course that hosted the 1951 Open, which was won by Max Faulkner. Faulkner's victory was the first time that a player from Northern Ireland had won the Open Championship.
