Juan Soto Delivers Game-Winning Hit for Yankees

Soto's Clutch Hit Lifts Yankees to Victory

New York Yankees outfielder Juan Soto came up with a clutch pinch-hit RBI double in the bottom of the ninth inning Tuesday night, lifting the Yankees to a 3-2 victory over the Boston Red Sox at Yankee Stadium.

With two outs and runners on first and second base, Soto stepped to the plate and lined a 1-1 sinker from Red Sox reliever Matt Barnes into the right-center field gap. The hit scored both runners and gave the Yankees their second consecutive win.

The Yankees had trailed 2-1 entering the bottom of the ninth, but they rallied against Barnes (1-3). Aaron Judge led off with a single, and Gleyber Torres followed with a walk. After Giancarlo Stanton struck out, Soto came through with his big hit.

Soto was acquired by the Yankees from the San Diego Padres at the trade deadline, and he has quickly become a key part of their lineup. The 24-year-old is batting .313 with five home runs and 26 RBIs in 60 games with the Yankees.

The Yankees improved to 78-54 with the win, while the Red Sox fell to 71-61. The Yankees are now 1.5 games behind the Tampa Bay Rays for the lead in the AL East.
